What is Premium Potato Starch?
Premium potato starch is only recently coming into its own in terms of popularity and effectiveness, but if trends continue, it could very well become a staple ingredient as part of numerous supplement stacks. This form of starch is, not surprisingly, derived from potatoes, and is designed to not only help provide increases in energy, but it is also designed to help reduce and regulate blood glucose levels, and to even promote a healthy gut and digestive system.
How does it work?
Premium potato starch is a form of resistant starch, which means that it isn’t broken down and converted into glucose. Most other forms of starch are, which is why it may be hard to get your head around the fact that a starch-based supplement, could actually lower blood sugar levels. Rather than being broken down and converted into glucose, the body instead utilizes it by breaking it down, and converting it into healthy food for the gut. Bacteria located within the gut will digest it and break it down into short-chain fatty acids. This basically means that, rather than acting as a carbohydrate source, this starch actually acts as food your gut instead, and it is converted into healthy fats. It may sound insane, what with it coming from a potato and all, but in reality, premium potato starch is a low-carbohydrate, high-fat supplement.
What are the benefits of using Premium Potato Starch supplements?
Some of the primary benefits associated with these supplements are:
Healthy digestive system
As mentioned, once consumed and inside the body, the starch is instead utilized by the gut, as it becomes food for the billions upon billions of microscopic bacteria residing inside our digestive tracts. The healthier the digestive system is, the less likely you will be to suffer from digestion-related illnesses.
Increased nutrient absorption
As the starch helps boost digestive health, this in turn allows the body to absorb more nutrients and natural goodness from the foods, drinks, and supplements that we consume. The more goodness we absorb, the healthier we become.
Improved blood sugar levels
Whether you’re type-2 diabetic, or are worried about your blood sugar levels, many experts recommend premium potato starch for anybody looking to regulate and lower their blood sugar levels. This is because the starch is not converted into glucose once consumed, meaning that insulin spikes are not necessary. It can also help enhance feelings of fullness, which will then result in you eating less, which could help facilitate weight loss.

Potato Starch Nutrition Facts
Potato Starch VS Waxy Maize Starch
Though both are referred to as starches, waxy maize starch and premium potato starch are still incredibly different to one another. Waxy maize starch has a larger molecular weight than other sources of starch, and as it has a long-chain molecular weight, it will pass through the stomach lining much quicker. This is useful as it helps draw nutrients from the stomach and digestive tract, into your system in general. Potato starch however, works by improving the digestive system instead.
What can it be stacked with?
Most people simply stack premium potato starch with supplements such as: EFAs, Whey Protein, Amino Acids, Multi-vitamins, and Casein Protein, although in reality, it can be stacked with virtually any supplement as it provides so many substantial health benefits.
