What is Green Tea Extract?
Green tea extract is, not surprisingly, a supplement that is derived from natural green tea leaves. Green tea, or camellia sinensis, is jam packed full of healthy and natural ingredients that have been proven to provide a whole host of benefits for the human body. For example, it is rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, caffeine, vitamins, and minerals. Green tea extract supplements provide all of the benefits associated with consuming enough green tea, without the hassle of constantly having to brew and drink the beverages.
How does it work?
Green tea extract functions not only as a potent fat burning supplement, but it is also a supplement proven to greatly enhance our health and well-being in the process. As mentioned, it is rich in antioxidants, especially one known as Epigallocatechin Galate, or EGCG for short. These antioxidants help protect our cells from free radicals and can protect our DNA from oxidation in the process. The extract is also rich in caffeine, which energizes the body, and boosts the metabolism, making it a very potent and powerful fat burning supplement. Not only do we burn more calories, but because we have more energy, we exercise harder, and faster, for longer durations. The vitamins and other nutrients in the green tea also help to nourish the body and strengthen the immune system.
What are the main benefits of Green Tea Extract supplements?
Some of the primary benefits associated with green tea extract include:
Fat loss
As mentioned, as the extract contains caffeine, and other stimulants, the metabolism gets a temporary boost which means that we burn more calories, and therefore burn more fat.
Improved immunity
The antioxidants and vitamins found in green tea extract, also help to boost the immune system and protect our cells against toxins and free radicals that could cause our cells to oxidize and mutate, potentially into cancerous cells.
Controlled blood sugar
Studies have also revealed that green tea extract can help to control and regulate blood sugar levels, meaning that conditions like diabetes can be treated and/or avoided altogether. Green tea extract has been found to help lower and regulate blood glucose levels, which in turn helps to stabilize and regulate hormones such as insulin.
Other benefits include:
- Fat loss
- Enhanced immunity
- Regulated blood sugar levels
- Increases in mental and physical energy
- Increased metabolism
- Improved brain health and function
- Heart protection
- Reduced inflammation
- Reduced LDL cholesterol levels
- Reduced blood pressure
- And more...
How and when should it be consumed?
Health Canada Recommended Dose (capsules): Adults: 1 - 2 Capsule(s) 1 time(s) per day. Take with food.
What can it be stacked with?
Green tea extract can be stacked with a number of different supplements, depending on what you are using it for. For example, if you are looking to burn fat, you may wish to stack it with Vitamin C, zinc, and Green Coffee Bean Extract. For general health and well-being, combine it with a multi-vitamin and an omega 3 supplement.

Green Tea Extract VS Green Coffee Bean Extract
Although similar in name, and in ingredients, green tea extract and green coffee bean extract are two very different supplements. Green tea for example, is a thermogenic compound which has been found to increase core body temperatures, and therefore help boost the metabolism. Green coffee bean extract can block the release of glucose, forcing the body to burn off body fat as a primary source of energy. Combine the two together, and you have one heck of a powerful and potent fat burning stack.
