What is Diindolylmethane?
Diindolylmethane, or DIM for short, is naturally formed within the human body when we consume certain foods. Upon consumption of certain foods, this compound will really come into its own and make its presence felt. The chemical is formed within the digestive tract and is derived from a compound known as Glucobrassicin. Glucobrassicin is found naturally in cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower, which are all part of the brassica family, hence the name ‘Gluco-BRASSICIN’. As well as being produced when we consume these foods, DIM can also be ingested via supplement form, and it is becoming a very popular supplement as a result.
How does it work?
DIM works in many ways as it provides several health benefits, which is why it is so popular. With that being said however, some of the main benefits of DIM are associated with its anti-cancer properties, and with its effect on Estrogen metabolism. In terms of Estrogen, experts have found that the DIM helps to promote healthy Estrogen metabolism rates and can therefore help reduce any ailments and side effects associated with Estrogen imbalances. Women in particular can benefit here, as this could potentially help to provide comfort and relief from symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome. On top of that, it can also lead to relief from perimenopause. Studies have also found that DIM can help to inhibit the growth of viruses such as HPV, or Human Pappilloma Virus. It also prevents cell division so it can help stop and prevent the formation/spreading of cancerous cells throughout the body.
What are the benefits of using Diindolylmethane supplements?
Here’s a look at some of the most prominent benefits associated with DIM supplements:
As mentioned, one of the main benefits of DIM supplements is the fact that they are thought to provide such impressive anti-cancer benefits. By preventing cell division, cancerous cells have no chance of multiplying or spreading throughout the body, so the disease can potentially be stopped dead in its tracks.
DIM is also packed full of nutrients and natural health properties, that have been found to promote optimal health and well-being in people of all ages, which is partially due to the fact that it strengthens and boosts the immune system, which as you know, provides a natural defence against illness and disease.
DIM is also a fantastic supplement for women, as it has been found to enhance Estrogen metabolism, meaning that it can provide relief from the menopause, from premenstrual cramps, and from Estrogen deficiencies in general.
Healthy testosterone levels
Experts have also found that DIM can potentially help to regulate and balance testosterone levels within the body, resulting in slightly elevated levels of this hormone. This is important as higher testosterone levels in men often result in things such as: increased strength levels, enhanced libido, increases in muscle mass, anti-aging benefits, and more besides.
Other benefits include:
- Promotes health and well-being
- Boosts the metabolism
- Enhances immunity
- Helps provide protection from viruses
- Helps balance testosterone levels
- And more...
