What is Panax Ginseng?

There are many different forms of ginseng currently available, and although similar and from the same families, each one actually provides a whole host of different health benefits for the human body. Panax ginseng is a natural plant that grows commonly in the wild in locations such as: Korea, far eastern Siberia, and in the northeast of China. The root is still used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to this very day, as it has been for thousands of years. The supplement is used for a number of reasons, including: for cognitive health benefits, for sexual health benefits, for mental health benefits, for recovery following intense exercise, for boosting the immune system, and much more besides.

How does it work?

As panax ginseng provides so many different benefits for the human body, understanding how it works can be tough, due to the fact that it works differently for each benefit that it provides. For sex drive and libido for example, panax ginseng is thought to assist due to the fact that it functions as a potent stress-eliminator, and it promotes a healthy libido and sex drive as a result. The supplement also enhances circulation and blood flow, resulting in increased levels of arousal, and more prominent erections in men. However, it is also rich in potent antioxidants that help eradicate free radicals and toxins from the body, preventing them from attacking our cells and altering their molecular shapes. For the heart, the antioxidant properties are also beneficial, due to the fact that panax ginseng helps to reduce LDL cholesterol oxidation levels, which could result in cardiovascular disease, a heart attack, hypertension, and more. The ginseng is also rich in nootropic compounds that help boost brain health and brain power, whilst reducing stress, depression, and anxiety. The ginseng also provides stimulant-like qualities, similar to those created by caffeine, which can increase physical performance and mental alertness.

What are the benefits of Panax Ginseng supplements?

Some of the main benefits of panax ginseng supplements include:

Heart Health

Another benefit of panax ginseng is the fact that it helps to prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol in the body, which could then result in blood clots, hypertension, heart disease stroke, and even a heart attack. For heart health, panax ginseng is ideal.

Sexual Health

Panax ginseng also helps to increase circulation, resulting in more oxygen-rich blood being pumped around the body. The more oxygen-rich blood that can flow to the genitals, the higher the sex drive will become, and, in men, the more prominent the erections will be.

Other benefits include:

  • Increased sexual health and libido
  • Enhanced fertility
  • Great for the heart
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Improved mental health and well-being
  • Increased energy levels
  • Increased mental focus and stamina
  • And more…

How and when should it be consumed?

Health Canada Recommended Dose (capsules): Adults: 1 - 3 Capsule(s) 1 time(s) per day.

Panax Ginseng VS Red Korean Ginseng

As mentioned, there are many different forms of ginseng currently available, and although similar, panax ginseng and red Korean ginseng do have their differences. Generally speaking however, the main differences between the two are simply their overall potencies. Red Korean ginseng is considered the weaker, because it contains less ginsenosides. It does however, assist with digestion for individuals suffering with anxiety or stress, but generally speaking, the main differences are simply the potencies of each form of the herb.

What can it be stacked with?

Most people will stack panax ginseng with supplements such as: 5-HTP, Ginkgo Biloba, and a basic Omega 3 supplement. This is considered to be a very beneficial and potent nootropic supplement stack designed to increase mental health and well-being.

First time trying this

I've read that this is the most potent form of ginseng and that seems to be the case. It's very stimulating and tends to heighten my heart rate, so it's best to take it in the morning. Synergizes nicely with maca.
